Float managing director Chad Udell and mobile strategist and evangelist Jeff Tillett will present a full-day workshop - "Prototyping for Mobile Learning" - on June 18th.

ELearning developers are accustomed to using rapid eLearning development tools to quickly build and prototype eLearning materials. In the mobile world, these tools are a bit different and have their own constraints and implementation considerations. Development of mobile apps can be tricky and requires a specialized skill set. If you are new to this world, the barrier to entry likely overwhelms you. Prototyping should be a vital part of any mobile learning professional’s toolkit.

Participants in this workshop will explore several prototyping paths and the tools and techniques used to accomplish them. You’ll get in-depth case studies to see real-world examples from major industry-leading clients. You’ll learn how to build rich prototypes for various mobile platforms without breaking the bank, and many of the techniques may be applicable to final implementation, depending on your needs. Learn the tricks of the trade from the mobile development world and see how very different this process is from the typical eLearning developer's process.

Technology addressed in this workshop: Adobe CS5.5 and various online prototpying tools.

Audience: Intermediate and advanced designers, developers, project managers, other authors, and publishers. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products would be helpful

Participant technology requirements: Participants should bring their own laptop with Adobe CS5 or newer.

About Jeff Tillett

Jeff Tillett has worked with computers and Internet technologies for nearly twenty years. A survivor of the Internet boom, Jeff assisted many startups to successfully build business and eCommerce ventures. As a developer for a distance-learning Internet start-up, Jeff and his team crafted a custom LMS and all of the content that went in it. Jeff has worked for various companies as an Interactive Learning Developer and Instructional Designer, including T-Mobile USA and Microsoft. At T-Mobile, Jeff built expertise in mobile delivery and design while leading the Innovation Team that advocated and piloted emerging learning technologies for the organization.

About Chad Udell

Chad Udell designs, develops, and manages projects and the client relationships that go along with them. He has developed dozens of Websites and learning projects. On his own time, he is also an instructor in Web and multimedia for Bradley University, focusing mainly on standards-based Web design. Many of his students have gone on to become successful designers or developers themselves, and he is happy to have helped them in some small part to achieve this.
