Josh Campbell: Multiscreen Design Strategies

Float Learning and Bradley University’s Department of Interactive Media in the Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts teamed up to provide a one-day event focused on mobile on Friday, June 10, 2011. Industry-leading speakers on user experience, learning and strategy presented an invaluable amount of information about mobile design, development and strategy. Marketing departments, learning departments and IT professionals benefitted from the actionable information they could take back to their organizations to invigorate their own mobile efforts. Two tracks focused on Business and Strategy, as well as Design and Development.

Josh Campbell discussed Multiscreen Design Strategies, in which he talked about how the fragmentation of capabilities across platforms creates both difficulties and opportunities as designers craft experiences for the varied platform landscape. Campbell also looked at how interaction patterns are changing and how designers can create experiences that take advantage of them.

“Designing web apps to bypass native apps is not always better,” said Jake Hamann, reflecting on Campbell’s session. “Design to take advantage of your targeted platform.”

Campbell, the owner of Magic+Might, is a proven design leader with an innovative, strategic and thoughtful perspective. He consistently delivers experience design for major corporations that results in driving businesses in fresh directions and crafts award-winning mobile, television, and desktop Web experiences. Campbell works with teams around the world to deliver exciting solutions, and looks forward to changing the way people talk, share and play.
